Camp Treats

Put the biscuits in the dutch oven
Bake them
Eat them
A camping trip would not be complete without dutch oven biscuits. You make the batter with bisquick and beer. You build a fire and put the dutch oven in the fire and get it really hot. You oil the oven and put in scoops of the batter. Then you arrange coals underneath the dutch oven and on top of the lid. Ten minutes of baking and you have yummy biscuits ready for butter and jelly. We cheated and used briquets to cook with instead of wood, because of time, but the biscuits were just as delicious.

Yumyumyumyumyumyum!!! Too bad my camping trip is over. Guess I'll have to make these on the backyard firepit thingy soon! Beer bisuits with slow-grilled pork loin and sweet potatoes. Mmmm! Thu 28-Jul-2005 21:38

We just got home from a camping/motorcycle riding trip in the Sierra Mountains. After working on a mobile home that we were getting ready to sell for the last 3 months, we really enjoyed getting away. The sale went through and closed on the day we left. Time for camping and some money to spend. What could be better? These are a few of the places that I saw every morning while taking my puppy for a walk.

Lovely Shots! Well done! Fri 15-Jul-2005 00:07

Lots of sunshine here in the desert. Shining through the leaves and trees that make the shade.

Kitten Tales

Mittens
Mittens
Whos got the Mittens
We had two mama cats and they both became pregnant at the same time. Tiny delivered hers first and a week later Snickers had her babies. They each had four. When Snickers had her kittens Tiny moved right in and helped her deliver hers and they both became the moms to all of them. It was so funny to see them all nursing with on one cat. One mom would take a break and the other would keep watch but they never made any difference between the kittens and I doubt that they even knew who belonged to who. We have been in the process of findind homes for them this last week. Today we took the last two to a place in front of Walmart where people bring puppies and kitties that they want to sell. There are some nice shade trees and people set out their little cages and enclosures and every one knows if you want a puppy that is the place to check out. It ony took about a hour to find homes for our two. This is the last one to go. We call him Mittens because he had seven toes on his two front feet. He was my favorite and has the sweetest personality. He looked like he had snowshoes on his feet and walked so cute. His dad had seven toes on all four feet. Now we are back to our orginal six cats. It was hard not to keep one of the kittens but you just have to stop some time. My granddaughter and I would have too many pets if it up to us

I bet this one was hard to part with!
as always, so many fantastic photos here

A Full House

Sierra
Austen and His Mom, Cheryl
Dolly Trying to Eat an Apple
View all 6 photos...
We really have a full house now. In addition to my grandson, Austen, that was living with us, we have our daughter, Cheryl, and her other 2 children, Camille and Zachary. Also after 20 years I finally convinced Richard that the one thing we were missing in our lives was a dog. So we have Dolly, she is a Pug mix. Such a character! My daughter has a dog named Sierra. Still in residence are 6 cats and their 8 kittens. If my house were twice as big we still would need more space. These are just a few of the things that have been happening that has contributed to my absence but I believe that my little corner of the world is back on track and I am so glad to be back to visit with my fotopages friends.

In other words, you have an empty nest and are enjoying retirement...? Tue 31-May-2005 14:40

Seen While Driving

Looking for another way to get home
Uhh Oh!!
Seems like these signs are very appropriate for the scene. The hawk was sitting at the corner and the truck had turned over on the freeway during one of the windy days we had recently

interesting Fri 27-May-2005 21:09

That's not from the wind. Nope. That's Granden's anti-theft truck parking method. Mon 30-May-2005 03:06

Nature Walk.... Part II

View all 6 photos...
We stayed at a campground at Bishop on the way back home from our trip. They had a small nature walk up the side of a hill with some old farm equipment and plants and other interesting things. It was very hot that day but well worth the walk up the hill to enjoy the sights. This campground is at a hotsprings that used to be a very popular place for moviestars to come in the 1930's. They have a huge swimming pool filled with water from the hot springs. Temperature about 90 degrees and a soaking pool with water about 99 degrees. We love to stop there on the way home and swim after camping out and riding motorcycles. It is the greatest.

Hello!
Forever you will be the best!!!
Nice shots !!!
