Summer's Last Rose
These will be the last roses that we will have this year. All the bushes are going to sleep until spring. In January we will cut them back and wait for their beauty to bloom again

Messy!!!!!!!

The other night my grandson's car got FLOURED. Is this a new sign of love (because I am sure it was done by a girl) or is it hate? Used to be, way back when, you would TP a friend or teacher that you liked. And while it was messy, especially if it was damp that night, there was no real harm done. However, flour mixed with syrup, as this was, made for a harder clean up and also left streaks on the car. So I was just wondering if I should think that my grandson was honored or dissed?

Autumn Leaves
The leaves are beginning to turn here in the high desert. We are still having mild (65 to 75 degrees) in the daytime, but the nights are beginning to be cool. When the winds come up you can tell that winter is coming. We usually have good weather until Thanksgiving, this is my favorite time of the year. These are leaves from my grape vines.
Here is a little pun for fun today
Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time,
which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate
very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he
suffered from bad breath. This made him (Oh, man, this is so bad, it's
good) A super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

PHOTO CHALLENGE #95......HOT
Roasting marshmallows over a hot campfire, lots of fun making very tasty treats. This is the correct way to roast a marshmallow. Put marshmallow on a stick, put over fire. When the marshmallow catches on fire, immediately take it out of the fire and blow it out. Carefully pull off the crusty covering and eat. Continue with this until the marshmallow is gone and then start over. Another delicious treat is smoores. After your marshmallow is roasted, quickly put it between two graham crackers and a square of Hershey's chocolate. YUMMY You will really want some more.

More of the Polar Bear
It is Friday morning and I have got my three grandkids off to school and my husband off to work, I fed the dogs, the cats and the bird. Now that all of that is done I am going to take a little time for myself before I start to work on my computer. We took my granddaughter and some of her friends to the San Diego Zoo for her 14th birthday. They have a beautiful zoo and the over 4000 animals are so well taken care of and displayed. Lots of shade along the paths to keep you cool while you walk. You are able to have great views of the animals. One of the best is the Polar Bear Plunge. Here are some more of this magnificent animal as he went swimming by. And hey, ALL of you have a great week-end

They are having another photo scavenger hunt at http://www.sh1ft.org/26things/ I have missed the last couple so I thought I would play again. No prizes or winners, just people interpreting the 26 Things in their own way. Really a lot of fun. Some of these are ones that I have already posted but fit the theme so well I decided to use them again. the rest are new. The animals (except for my puppy and cat) are from a recent trip to the San Dieo Zoo.

This was Dolly's first camping trip in the Sierra Mountains. She was good for the most part and only ran off once. She had lots of attention as she was the only dog in our camp. There were lots of other dogs in other camps and there was even a pig that was being walked around on a leash. The pig's name was Mimi, which delighted my grandkids because that is what they call me.(They call me Mimi, not pig)
